Game Schedule Released for North Carolina Elite Squad Tour March 2010

Sports-ed will be taking a squad of male soccer players to North Carolina between March 11th and March 19th. This will be the 6th year that Sports-ed have taken a team to North Carolina and be our 22nd squad tour. Jamie Bennett who will be heading this event and is Sports-ed Director of Sport said “This is a great opportunity for many of our young players to see for themselves what will be required of them as College Soccer players in the USA. I am very excieted about the group of players we will be taking this year, and feel many like many others before, will make a real impact at many College Soccer Teams in the US:

The schedule for our visit is:

Friday March 12th: Game V North Carolina U-18 team

Saturday March 13th: Game V Wingate University at Wingate

Sunday March 14th: Game V Davidson College at Davidson (see Link http://www.davidsonwildcats.com/news/2010/1/21/MSOC_0121100053.aspx)

Monday March 15th: Game V High Point University at High Point

Tuesday March 16th: Round Robin Tournament with Campbell University and Coker College

Wednesday March 17th: Game V Elon University at Elon

With a packed schedule full of great opposition and great places to visit, Sports-ed will be taking some very talented individuals across the atlantic, including both UK and Scandinavian based players.

Talented youngster Michael Ricketts joins Sports-ed Soccer Scholarship Program

Burton Albion youth player Michael Ricketts is the latest soccer player to join Sports-ed Soccer Scholarship Program. The talented left sided player will be hot prospect we feel for 2010, and his background to date reinforces that. He is currently with the Burton Albion youth set-up, and is the second player we will be working with from Burton. Before Burton Mike spent a number of year’s as a youth player for Tamworth FC.

We are very excited about working with Mike and feel that with his academic background can set his sites high.

Mike will be in action in our March 5th warm-up match for the squad going over to North Carolina in mid March. For more information on Mike contact soccer @sports-ed.com

Goalkeeper Peppe Leeder joins Sports-ed Soccer Scholarship Program

South Nottinghamshire College student Peppe Leeder has joined our Soccer Scholarship Program and will be one of a few goalkeepers that will begin the look towards playing in College in the USA from Fall 2010.

Peppe has been a part of the South Nottinghamshire Football Development Program for the past 2 years, he will join a long list of players from the College we have helped achieve their goals and begin their academic and sporting education in the states.

Soccer Assessment Day: February 18th 2010

Sports-ed will be holding a Soccer Assessment Day on February 18th 2010. The day will take place at Gresham Football Centre, Nottingham.

The day will consist of a 45 minute presentation to players giving them the opportunity to see the benefits at looking towards the USA to study and combine their soccer at a elite level. The presentation will be followed by playing assessment of players.

Oliver Kelly joins the Sports-ed Soccer Scholarship Program

Sports-ed are excited to announce that Oliver Kelly is the latest soccer player that Sports-ed will be working with this year. Oliver who is currently with Burton Albion Youth Team is a great addition to Sports-ed and shows the calibre of players Sports-ed are working with for 2010 and 2011. Oliver studies at Burton College while at Burton Albion Academy. The 18 year old defender will also be part of the Elite squad that will be playing games in the USA in March

Sports-ed Soccer Elite Squad: Final Preparations

Sports-ed Men’s Elite Squad that will be going to the USA between March 11th and 19th will be having their final get together on March 5th at the NG Football Centre Nottingham. The day will consist of a game at 4pm and the distribution of clothing and equipment ready in time for our departure. More details will follow

Sports-ed will play against 5 NCAA D1 programs while in the USA and 1 NCAA D2 programs.

Female Soccer Player Carrie Gallagher Joins Sports-ed

January 18, 2010

Female Soccer Player Carrie Gallagher joins Sports-ed and will be one of the girls that will be heading over to the USA with Sports-ed in April.

Carrie is looking to go to the USA and do Post Grad studies for 2 years, while continuing to play. She achieved a BSc in Sports Therapy at Northampton University. Carrie has played for Northampton Town, Rushden and Diamonds, and was a member of Northamptonshire County Team.
